As an artist, you should be able to see the beauty in both the pretty and the ugly things in life, because they are both inspiring. The calling of the artist is to make others feel better by describing ugly things with pretty words.
Artists see life as a constant flow of inspiration and output.

It’s a beautiful cycle.
Life is  a beautiful cycle.
Once you realize that life is beautiful,  the question becomes: “what is the appropriate reaction to beauty?” The answer to that question is: to laugh and cry simultaneously, live life to the fullest with all the joy and pain, and to live it courageously, instead of sitting in a corner turning your back to the world, paralyzed by fear. Let reality and your imagination mash and create your life, and that of the people around you. And be happy that you’re alive, because you’re a ray of inspiration to me, and I am to you, and we both are, for everyone, in a dark world.

I get butterflies in my stomach, even when you are online.

Someone once asked me to define art. After thinking for a minute, I said: art is anything that has a dual purpose of catharsis and empathy. Anything aimed at making yourself and others feel less alone in the world. Art, therefore, could be almost anything: even an act of good will, even a conversation.

The drama of what it means to be a human is the most inspiring work of art by God.

To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

  • Becky: Why don't you tell your stories anymore?
  • Sara: They're just make-believe. They don't mean anything.
  • Becky: Oh, but they've always meant something to me. There were days I thought I would die until I heard you talk about the magic.
